I am reluctant to use the “O” word (obsessive), because I think it is highly overused (more like mis-used), but sometimes, I am like a dog with a bone!

Ich verwende das Wort “Obsessiv” sehr widerwillig, denn ich glaube es ist sehr oft missbraucht, aber manchmal bin ich, na ja, obsessiv!

The 50 States project has consumed me; it has taken up all my time and attention; just as I thought nothing would be able to tear me away, something more urgent came up.

Die Muster für die 50 Staaten hat alle meine Zeit in Anspruch genommen; ich dachte nichts konnte mich davon fort reißen – und dann passiert etwas dringendes!

One of the plugs in the kitchen started shorting out; I would hit the reset button on the GFI it is connected to, and it would work for a bit and then short out again.  First the intervals were every few days, but quickly became shorter, down to every few hours; eventually it stopped working completely. BHE and the electrician thought that the GFI (which is just a regular electrical outlet with a ground fault attached to it) had gone bad, since it was the original to the house.

Einer der Stecker in unserer Küche hat angefangen Kurzschlüsse zu haben.  Am Anfang passierte es alle paar Tage, dann alle paar Stunden, und schliesslich hat der Stecker ganz aufgegeben.  Charlie und der Elektriker dachte das die Steckdose halt alt war denn sie war so alt wie das Haus.

So, BHE took to changing it.  He took the cover off the outlet, and found a surprise behind the wall (and the reason the outlet kept shorting out)!

Charlie hat beschlossen eine neue Steckdose zu installieren.  Er hat die Bedeckung abmontiert, und hat dahinter eine Überraschung entdeckt (und den wirklichen Grund warum die Steckdose nicht funktionieret hat)!

Apparently, an ant colony had decided to take up residency inside our kitchen wall!  Now, I am not squeamish, and I am sure there are worst things to find in the wall (like termites), but I was not thrilled….I am NOT posting a photo of that although I have one – it is gross!!

Anscheinend hat sich eine Ameisen Kolonie in unserer Wand sehr Zu Hause gefühlt! Ich bin nicht sehr empfindlich, und ich bin mir ganz sicher es gibt schlimmere Dinge die man in seinen Wänden entdecken könnte, aber ich muss gestehen – ich war nicht sehr happy über diesen Fund!  Ich habe ein Photo davon, werde es aber heir nicht veröffentlichen – das ganze ist schon grauslich…

BHE called the exterminator, who showed up the next morning.  In the meantime, I was checking the open outlet every hour to make sure I was not seeing the little critters crawling out of their hideaway and into my kitchen.  The exterminator treated the inside of the entire house and then went outside to treat the outside (husband knows how to calm me down, doesn’t he?)

Der Beste-Mann-der-Welt (BHE = Best Husband Ever) hat den “Exterminator” (weiss das deutsche wort nicht) angerufen, und der kam auch prompt am nächsten Tag.  In der Zwischenzeit, habe ich sehr oft in den Stecker geschaut – ich wollte nicht dass sich die Ameisen im Rest meiner Küche verbreiten… Der “exterminator” hat die Innenseite der Wand, und die Innenseite des Hauses behandelt. Dann hat er auch die Aussenseite der Wände behandelt.  Mein Mann weiss halt wie man mich beruhigt, nicht wahr?

Wie er dann wieder weg war, haben Charlie und der Elektriker die Steckdose ausgetauscht…

 

All this sounds simple – believe me, it is not!  Between cleaning the kitchen and all the drawers and cabinets near the wall that was treated, interacting with exterminator and electrician, thanking BHE profusely for taking care of most of this, corralling three dogs (that were highly offended that the exterminator and electrician had entered their house), there was not a whole lot of time left for the remaining six patterns.

Das alles hört sich einfach aus – aber das ist es sicherlich nicht!  Ich habe die ganze Küche (inklusive Kästchen und Laden) putzen müssen, alles was drin war gründlich waschen, mit dem Exterminator und den Elektriker Besprechungen führen, mich beim Besten-Mann-der-Welt passend bedanken, und drei Hunde kontrollieren (die waren sehr beleidigt dass der Exterminator and der Elektriker ihr Haus betreten hatten)….Nach all dem war nicht sehr viel Zeit übrig um die letzten sechs Muster zu entwerfen!

I did manage to complete Vermont and Texas though; so now all of the states except for eight are available in my Craftsy shop!  Yoo-hoo….almost done with the US, then moving on to other countries….

Ich habe es aber doch geschafft Vermont und Texas zusammenzustellen.  Jetzt sind fast alle Staaten online (nur die letzen acht fehlen noch) in meinem Craftsy shop!  Yoko-hoo – fast fertig mit den Vereinigten Staaten; dann geht’s auf nach Europa (mit dem Entwerfen).
