This morning, I went to the grocery store for a few items. When I came home, I put the groceries away and then sat down to check my Facebook page. That is when I realized that I was missing my iPad.

After searching the house and car, incredulous that I could have left it anywhere else, I activated the “Find my iPad” app, only to realize that he iPad was in the parking lot of the store. I raced back, and started searching for it, while Charlie was sitting in front of the computer monitor at home watching the little green dot and ensuring it was not moving! These efforts proved unsuccessful, and so I entered the store in the hopes that someone may have found it and turned it in. With the help of an employee, I enquired of the cashier, the customer service clerk and the cart boy…..no one knew where the iPad was.

I walked out to the parking lot for one last look, when the young man that corrals the carts came running out of the store. He explained that he had found the iPad and put it in his truck for “safekeeping”. We walked over to the truck and he retrieved it out of a tool box that was in the bed of his truck. He explained he had put it there because “who knows what would have happened if he had given it to them in the store”….

The young man was about 16 or 17 years old; I do not believe for a minute that he would have been this forthcoming, had I not mentioned that the iPad was “pinging” in the parking lot! I do believe that he got very nervous and scared and decided to “fess” up.

I did not report him to the store, or to the authorities; I am hoping that this experience was enough to scare him straight!
