The Garden is New – ein erneuter Garten

A couple of weeks ago, Charlie and I began preparing the garden.  It started with Charlie tilling up the soil, then we pulled up, killed, raked out as many of the weeds as we could.  I asked Charlie to snap a few pictures, and this is the best he came up with!

Vor ca. zwei Wochen, haben Charlie und ich begonnen den Garten vorzubereiten.  Charlie hat den Boden bearbeitet.  Dann haben wir das Unkraut mit der Hand oder mit dem Rechen herausgerissen.  Ich habe ihn gebeten ein paar Photos zu machen und dieses ist das Beste dass er gemacht hat!

  On Tuesday, we went and bought a few bags of fresh garden soil and some of the plants I will grow.

Am Dienstag haben wir ein paar grosse Säcke mit frischer Erde gekauft und auch einige von den Pflanzen.

After I spread the soil around, I placed the plants where I think I am going to plant them.

Nachdem ich die frische Erde im Garten verbreitet hatte, habe ich die Pflanzen dort hingesetzt wo ich sie wahrscheinlich pflanzen werde.

The entire left row is different varieties of tomatoes (early girls, beefeaters, big boy and even a purple variety!)  The sun comes from the right (East) for most of the day and since the tomatoes are the tallest plants, if I placed them anywhere else they would shade all the others.

Die ganze linke Reihe sind Tomaten (vier verschiedene Arten; eine davon produziert lila Tomaten!)  Die Sonne kommt von der rechten Seite (Osten) und die Tomaten sind die grössten Pflanzen.  Würde ich sie auf der anderen Seite pflanzen, dann überschatten sie alle anderen.

There are also a yellow and a green squash plants, two cucumbers and five eggplant.  One of the eggplant is the “Sana Eggplant” – my friend Sana really has no time for a garden, but likes eggplant.  So I decided that whatever comes off this plant, will go to her house.  The front right hand corner of the garden appears empty, but it is not!

Die anderen Pflanzen sind gelbe und grüne Zucchini, zwei Gurken, und fünf Auberginen.  Eine der Auberginen ist die “Sana Pflanze” – einer meiner Freundinnen hat für einen Garten wirklich keine Zeit, aber sie liebt Auberginen.  Ich habe daher beschlossen, dass alles was diese Pflanze produziert ihr gehören wird.  Vorne rechts sieht leer aus, aber ist nicht wirklich leer!

I discovered these little things coming up – they look a lot like my cucumbers from last year.  So, I’ll watch them carefully and see what happens!

Ich habe diese kleinen Dinge entdeckt – ich denke das sind kleine Gurken Pflänzchen vom letzten Jahr.  Ich werde auf sie achten, und wir werden sehen ob aus ihnen was wir!

That’s as far as I got before it started raining…and it continue to rain for the next three days!

Und dann, hat es zu schütten angefangen – und es hat bis heute morgen weitergeschütett!

This morning, I will make a trip to the nursery and pick up some Romaine lettuce plants.  They will go on the right hand side and will be the last row.

Heute gehe ich Salat (Pflanzen) holen.  Die werden dann morgen, mit all den anderen Pflanzen ganz rechts gepflanzt.
