Recently, I had a not-so-pleasant experience….

Neulich hatte ich ein nicht so angenehmes Erlebnis….

A (quilt) designer and artist that I have followed for a few years now, and that I admire (a lot!) and that has a very creative brain and more talent than I can ever imagine, published a paper pieced block of the state of Georgia.

Ein (quilt) Designerin, eine Künstlerin die ich seit einigen Jahren folge und die ich sehr bewundere und die ein sehr kreatives Gehirn und mehr Talent hat, als ich mir je vorstellen kann, veröffentlichte einen Naehen-auf-Papier block des US Bundesstaates Georgia.

The block appears to be very similar (if not the same) as a block I published in 2015 (even the colors were the same!). I tried to contact her thinking there may be some explanation – sometimes we all see things that “stick” in our minds and resurface a while later….

Der Block scheint sehr ähnlich zu sein (wenn nicht der gleiche) wie ein Block den ich 2015 veröffentlicht habe (sogar die Farben waren gleich!). Ich habe versucht sie zu kontaktieren weil ich dachte, es könnte eine logische Erklärung geben – manchmal sehen wir alle Dinge, die in unseren Köpfen “hängen bleiben” und eine Weile später wieder auftauchen ….

My email was non confrontational, saying that great minds sometimes think alike and bringing her attention to my earlier design and linking several blog posts and photos to the message. The quilt that includes this block had been shown at several large quilt shows as well.

Mein E-Mail war nicht konfrontativ und sagte, dass große Köpfe manchmal gleich denken, und machte sie auf mein früheres Design aufmerksam und verknüpfte mehrere Blog-Posts und Fotos mit der Nachricht. Der Quilt, der diesen Block enthält, wurde auch auf mehreren großen Quilt-Shows gezeigt.

There was no response; nothing – not a word. In addition to the obvious (the misappropriation of intellectual property), it was hugely disappointing to find that someone with so much obvious talent, imagination and skill was also somewhat dishonest – which at this point, is the only conclusion that I can draw. Why otherwise would she not have acknowledged my message?

Es kam keine Antwort; nichts – kein Wort. Neben dem offensichtlichen (der Veruntreuung von geistigem Eigentum) war es sehr enttäuschend festzustellen, dass jemand mit so viel offensichtlichem Talent, Vorstellungskraft und Können auch etwas unehrlich war – was jetzt eigentlich die einzige Schlussfolgerung sein kann. Warum sonst hätte sie meine Nachricht nicht zur Kenntnis genommen?

I reported the block to the selling platform as a copyright infringement and am now waiting for their decision, Either way, hugely disappointing…

Ich habe den Block bei der Verkaufsplattform als Urheberrechtsverletzung gemeldet und warte jetzt. Egal was die Entscheidung is, sehr enttäuschend…

Modern Plus Sign Quilt Sampler

A few months ago, I participated in a quilt along by Meadow Mist Designs and Quilted Blooms. Cheryl and Paige have written a book together, and the quilt along was used on that book (which, by the way, is very good).

Vor ein paar Monaten nahm ich an einem Quilt-Along von Meadow Mist Designs und Quilted Blooms teil. Cheryl und Paige haben zusammen ein Buch geschrieben und die Muster waren all aus diesem Buch (das Buch ist übrigens sehr gut).

I decided, that instead of using traditional quilting fabrics, I would use T-shirt “carcasses”. Pieces of T-shirts, left over from T-shirt quilts that I had made for various clients.

Ich habe, anstadt von traditionellen Baumwoll Stoffen, T-Shirt “Kadaver” zu verwenden. Das sind Stücke von T-Shirts, die von T-Shirt-Steppdecken (die ich für Kunden genäht habe) übrig sind.

The construction wasn’t that difficult; there are a couple of seams/corners that don’t match up but I figured that that is the price you pay for working with knits…

The quilting was a different story. The material stretches in every direction and makes quilting anything geometric very difficult.

Das Quilten war eine andere Geschichte. Das Material dehnt sich in alle Richtungen und erschwert das Quilten von geometrischen Objekten sehr.

Charlie’s (58th) Class Reunion

We recently attended Charlie’s 58th class reunion in Salem, Va. I wrote about my admiration for his former school and the people it and the surrounding community produced, here.

Wir haben kürzlich an Charlies 58. Klassentreffen in Salem, Virginia, teilgenommen. Ich schrieb über meine Bewunderung für seine frühere Schule und die Menschen, die sie und die umliegende Gemeinde hervorgebracht haben in diesem Posting.

The reunion takes place every two years, and we have attended most of them (we missed a couple due to Charlie’s health challenges).

Die Klassentreffen findet alle zwei Jahre statt und wir haben an den meisten teilgenommen (wir haben ein paar wegen Charlies Gesundheit verpasst).

It is VERY sad to see how the numbers are dwindling – the school closed in 1966 and so each time we go, there are less and less attendees….

This year, I took an item that I wanted to donate to the Carver Reunion Association. I had planned this for a while but had not gotten around to doing it. There is always a raffle on the night of the banquet (where somehow, mysteriously, my sister-in-law totally cleaned up last time) and I had thought this would be my contribution to said raffle.

In diesem Jahr nahm ich ein Geschenk mit, das ich der “Carver Reunion Association” spenden wollte. Ich hatte das seit einiger Zeit geplant, war aber nicht dazu gekommen. Am Abend des Banketts gibt immer eine Verlosung (wo auf mysteriöse Weise meine Schwägerin das letzte Mal total aufgeräumt hat) und ich hatte gedacht, dies wäre halt mein Beitrag.

The piece was received with great enthusiasm, and after some discussion the Board decided NOT to raffle the wall hanging off. Instead, they will hang it in the school hallway (the building is now an elementary school) with a plaque listing Charlie as the donors(something I insisted on).

Das Stück wurde mit großer Begeisterung aufgenommen, und nach einigen Diskussionen entschied der Vorstand, den Quilt NICHT zu verlosen. Stattdessen hängen sie es in der Schule auf (das Gebäude ist jetzt eine Grundschule) mit einer Plakette mit Charlie als Spender (etwas, worauf ich bestand).

Bee Inspired – in October

Our queen for the month is Kate.  She is having significant mobility difficulties at the moment.  I am not disclosing this to gossip, but rather to illustrate how we have all become “real” friends, even though we have never met (or even spoken to each other).

Unsere Königin für den Monat ist Kate. Sie hat derzeit erhebliche Mobilitätsschwierigkeiten. Ich verrate das nicht um zu klatschen, sondern um zu illustrieren, wie wir alle zu “echten” Freundinnen geworden sind, obwohl wir uns nie begegnet sind (und auch nie miteinander gesprochen haben).

Because Kate is not able to sew or type currently, several bee members volunteered to help with making her blocks and publishing her posts!  Pretty awesome, huh?

Da Kate momentan nicht nähen oder den Computer benutzen kann, meldeten sich mehrere unserer Mitglieder freiwillig, um ihre Blöcke zu nähen und ihre Beiträge zu veröffentlichen! Ziemlich großartig, nicht wahr?

These two blocks are constructed out of only two (2 1/2″) strips of fabric….genius!

Sewing Room Furniture

A few years ago, Charlie and I built a massive cutting table for my sewing/longarming room.  It was an IKEA hack, made of two bookcases, a couple of sheets of plywood and heavy duty casters.  It was 4′ x 8′ (122cm x 244cm).  I wrote a blog post about creating it here.  I have since come to realize that I can handle all I need to do on a much, much smaller surface.

Vor ein paar Jahren haben Charlie und ich einen riesigen Schneidetisch für meinen Näh- / Longarmierraum gebaut. Es war ein IKEA-Hack, der aus zwei Bücherregalen, ein paar Sperrholzplatten und schweren Rollen bestand. Der war 4 ‘x 8’ (122 cm x 244 cm). Ich habe einen Blogbeitrag darüber geschrieben. Seitdem habe ich erkannt, dass eigentlich so eine grosse Fläche nicht brauche.

I am a BIG believer in repurposing/recycling; so I started thinking how I could reuse the components of the cutting table.  In consultation with my in-house-construction wizard (Best-Husband-Ever Charlie), I decide to de-construct the table and turn the bookcases back into “bookcases”.  You can see one of them in the photo below – it fit perfectly next to the window, and was just the right height, which is an almost miracle since the walls are slanted at an odd height and furniture is generally either too short or too tall.  The other bookcase is on the other end of the room, where the credenza used to sit.  There is enough room over there for another one just like it.

Ich bin ein großer Anhänger der Umnutzung / Recycling; also begann ich darüber nachzudenken, wie ich die Bestandteile des Schneidetisches wiederverwenden konnte. In Absprache mit meinem Inhouse-Baumeister (Best-Husband-Ever Charlie) habe ich entschieden, den Tisch zu dekonstruieren und die Bücherregale wieder in “Bücherregale” zu verwandeln. Man kann auf dem Foto unten sehen – eines der Bücherregale passte perfekt neben dem Fenster, und war genau die richtige Höhe, was fast ein Wunder ist, da die Wände in einer komischen Höhe schräg sind und Möbel im allgemeinen entweder zu kurz oder zu hoch sind . Das andere Bücherregal befindet sich am anderen Ende des Raumes, in dem die Kredenz saß.

The credenza, which in a previous life was our china cabinet (right after we bought it in 2005), then my office supply cabinet, then a dining room side board, and finally (and most recently) fabric storage underneath and ironing surface on top is now a combination of fabric storage, cutting surface and ironing board.

Die Kredenz, die in einem früheren Leben unser Porzellanschrank war (direkt nach dem Kauf in 2005), dann mein Bürobedarfsschrank, dann ein Esszimmer-Kredenz und schließlich (und zuletzt) ​​ein Stofflager unten und eine Bügelfläche oben; ist jetzt eine Kombination aus Stofflager, Schneidefläche und Bügelbrett.

To the right of the “new” cutting table/ironing station you can see Margaret’s chair.  Margaret the puppy loves to look out the window.  She is a great jumper, but because the chair swirls (which caused her to fall off it on her first attempt) she will not get on it unless the stairs are there.  All this takes up a LOT of space so I started looking for something I could use to make her a seat that she could climb/jump up on other own.  I found the piece in the picture below in our closet, and the feet in our IKEA spare-parts-box.  The feet had previously been on the bottom of a cabinet that is now hanging in our garage.

Auf der rechten Seite des “neuen” Schneidetisches / Bügelstation sieht man Margaret’s. Margaret (unser Baby Hund) liebt es, aus dem Fenster zu schauen. Sie ist eine tolle Springerin, aber weil der Stuhl wirbelt (was dazu führte, dass sie bei ihrem ersten Versuch davon fiel), traut sie sich nicht mehr darauf zu springen und braucht die Treppe. All das nimmt viel Platz in Anspruch, also suchte ich nach etwas, das ich benutzen könnte, um ihr einem Sitz zu machen, auf dem sie klettern und springen kann. Ich fand das Stück (auf dem Bild unten links) in unserem Schrank, und die Füße in unserer IKEA-Ersatzteil-Box. Die Füße waren vorher auf dem Boden eines Schrankes, der jetzt in unserer Garage hängt.

Charlie had a piece of material in his shop (I don’t know the name of the thing but it is what is commonly used for backing of cabinetry; it is thin and wood like). He cut it to size for me and I nailed it to the back of the box (using nails found in the IKEA spare-parts-box!).  I then attached the feet to the bottom – all this under Charlie’s constant supervision (I think he worries that I will maim myself horribly otherwise).

Charlie hatte ein Stück Material in seiner Werkstatt (ich weiss nicht wie das  Ding heisst, aber es ist das, was üblicherweise für die Rückendeckung von Schränken verwendet wird; es ist dünn und holzartig). Er hat es für mich zugeschnitten und ich habe es auf die Rückseite der Box genagelt (mit Nägeln aus der IKEA-Ersatzteilbox!). Ich habe dann die Füße am Boden befestigt – all das unter der ständigen Aufsicht von Charlie (ich denke, er macht sich Sorgen, dass ich mich sonst fürchterlich verstümmeln werde).

The top will get a cushion (an old pillow covered in a practice quilt) and will then be attached with stick-on velcro, so I can take it off and wash.

I will work with this setup for a while to see how it works for me.  If the surface proves to be large enough, the I will turn the back of the credenza into a design wall.  If I have to enlarge the top a bit, I will add a larger top, as well as two legs on the back (in order to stabilize the larger top).  The area underneath would then become additional storage.

Ich werde für eine Weile mit diesem Setup arbeiten, um zu sehen, wie es für mich funktioniert. Wenn die Oberfläche groß genug ist, werde ich die Rückseite der Credenza in eine Designwand verwandeln. Wenn ich das Oberteil ein wenig vergrößern muss, werde ich ein größeres Oberteil oben drauf legen und zwei Beine auf dem Rücken hinzufügen (um das größere Oberteil zu stabilisieren).

Bee Inspired – It is my turn to post a tutorial

The block I am requesting this month is a simple, back-to-basics kind of block: a log cabin, albeit a “skinny” one.

Der Block, den ich diesen Monat gerne habe würde, ist ein einfacher, grundlegender Block: ein “log cabin” Block, wenn auch ein “magerer”..

The center should be red – as red as you can get it. Red on red is great, but please no other colors at all.  Also no metallic on the red.

Das Zentrum sollte rot sein – so rot wie es geht. Rot auf Rot ist großartig, aber bitte keine anderen Farben. Auch nichts Glänzendes auf dem roten Stoff.

The “logs” should be white and/or off white.  Again, tone on tone is great, patterned fabrics are great (as long as they are tone on tone) but again please no metallics.  Mixing whites and off white is also great.

Die Seiten sollten weiß und/oder fast weiss sein. Auch hier ist Ton in Ton super, gemusterte Stoffe sind toll (solange sie Ton in Ton sind) aber bitte auch hier nichts glänzendes auf diesen Stoffen.

Honestly, I do not understand why EQ labeled the logs from the outside in – I personally would have much preferred to start with A in the center….

Ehrlich gesagt verstehe ich nicht, warum EQ die Logs von außen beschriftet hat – ich persönlich hätte viel lieber mit A in der Mitte angefangen ….

Really, it will probably take you longer to cut the fabric than to construct the block. Have fun!!

Bee inspired – (by a royal wedding?)

It has been a while since I posted….I keep feeling as if there is always soooo much to do and I have to keep running to catch up!

But then, Velda became Queen Bee in my international online bee and she requested a cake block. We wee to take inspiration from this pattern:

Aber dann wurde Velda Queen Bee in meiner internationalen Online-Biene und sie bat um einen Kuchenblock. Wir möchten uns von diesem Muster inspirieren lassen:

I thought I would take inspiration from (what else?) the Royal Wedding taking place in London this weekend….and so I made an Elderflower Lemon Drip Cake.

Ich dachte, ich würde mich inspirieren lassen von (was noch?) der kleinen Hochzeit, die dieses Wochenende in London stattfindet … und so machte ich einen Holunderblüten-Zitronenkuchen.

I stretched myself as I ordinarily don’t do appliqué (my friend Sana who is a master of it will be probably horrified by this attempt).  Also, my cake appeared to be sitting not completely level while I was applying the drip in my quilt kitchen, because to me it appears a bit off kilter…. 🙂 – I hope Velda will excuse all those flaws!

Ich mache normalerweise keine Applikationen (mein Freundin Sana, der ein Meister-in davon ist, wird wahrscheinlich von diesem Versuch entsetzt sein). Außerdem schien mein Kuchen nicht ganz waagerecht zu sitzen, während ich den Tropf in meiner Quiltküche anwendete, weil er mir etwas schief erscheint … 🙂 – Ich hoffe, Velda wird all diese Fehler entschuldigen!

Harry and Meghan’s wedding cake will be baked by Violet Cakes in London.  In their gallery, you see some “naked” cakes (cakes with minimal frosting on all or some of the cake; so minimal that the cake peeks through the frosting).  In my cake that is represented on the bottom part; the top part is “frosted” (with either cream or fondant, whatever your personal preference) and then the lemon glaze drip is applied on top of that.

Harry und Meghans Hochzeitstorte wird von Violet Cakes in London gebacken. In ihrer Galerie sieht man einige “nackte” Kuchen (Kuchen mit minimaler Zuckerglasur auf dem ganzen oder einem Teil des Kuchens; so minimal, dass der Kuchen durch die Zuckerglasur späht). In meinem Kuchen, ist das auf dem unteren Teil dargestellt; der obere Teil ist “mattiert” (mit Sahne oder Fondant, ganz nach Belieben) und dann wird der Tropf mit der Zitronenglasur darauf aufgetragen.

The royal wedding cake will be decorated with real flowers (and maybe lemons?) and perhaps Velda will elect to decorate this one the same way after quilting?

Die prinzliche Hochzeitstorte wird mit echten Blumen (und vielleicht Zitronen?) dekoriert und vielleicht wird Velda diese Torte nach dem Quilten auch so dekorieren?

I know I say this EVERY month, but I really like this block and can’t wait to see the quilt!

Ich weiß, ich sage das jeden Monat, aber ich mag diesen Block wirklich und kann es kaum erwarten, die Decke zu sehen!

Fine Feathered Star

A few weeks ago, my Guild offered a Feathered Star Class, presented by Cindy Williams of Onion Mountain Quilts.  Cindy has developed her own methods of constructing feathered stars that takes the complexity, confusion, and consternation out of the process.

Vor ein paar Wochen hat meine Gilde eine” Feathered Star” Klasse angeboten, die von Cindy Williams von Onion Mountain Quilts präsentiert wurde. Cindy hat ihre eigenen Methoden entwickelt, um diese Sterne zu konstruieren, Methoden die die Komplexität, Verwirrung und Verzweiflung aus dem Prozess nehmen.

I will be honest – I was very reluctant to take this class:  this is a very traditional block, not at all my style and not something I would normally do.  But, Cindy is my friend, and I try to take the classes offered by my Guild in order to support the organization. It helps that she is WILDLY entertaining!

Ich werde ehrlich sein – ich war sehr widerwillig, teil zu nehmen: das ist ein sehr traditioneller Block, überhaupt nicht mein Stil und nicht etwas, was ich normalerweise tun würde. Aber Cindy ist meine Freundin und ich versuche, die von meiner Gilde angebotenen Kurse zu besuchen, um die Organisation zu unterstützen. Und es hilft sehr, dass Cindy sehr unterhaltsam ist!.

And boy, oh boy am I glad I attended!

First, the materials:  We received a color booklet in class, which contains complete instructions for three different sizes of the feathered star wall hanging (and then there is a bonus one in the back of the booklet, for a total of four!!).  The booklet is spiral bound and has 50 pages.  I love, love, love the spiral – it allows me to look at different sections of the pattern without having lose pages all over the place.  In addition to the step by step instructions, the booklet contains illustrated tutorials for everything associated with this project.  For example, there are several methods on half-square triangles, several ways to double check the fit of all your pieces, templates and much much more.

Zuerst die Materialien: Wir erhielten ein Farbheft in der Klasse, welches komplette Anweisungen für drei verschiedene Größen des “feathered star” Wandbehanges enthält (und dann gibt es noch einen Bonus Stern in der Rückseite des Büchleins, für insgesamt vier !!) . Das Farbheft ist spiralgebunden und hat 50 Seiten. Ich liebe, liebe, liebe die Spirale – sie erlaubt mir, verschiedene Abschnitte des Musters zu betrachten, ohne die ganzen Seiten zu verlieren. Zusätzlich zu den Schritt-für-Schritt-Anleitungen enthält das Heft auch illustrierte Anleitungen zu allem, was mit diesem Projekt zu tun hat. Zum Beispiel gibt es mehrere Methoden auf halbquadratische Dreiecke, mehrere Möglichkeiten, um die Passform aller Ihrer Stücke, Vorlagen und vieles mehr zu überprüfen.

 

There is a full page, color diagram with all parts labeled (corresponding with the cutting chart).  So, if you chose to make a different color way, it will be much, much easier for you to identify the parts of the star.  In addition, there is a line drawing that one may photocopy and color.  Several different color ways are offered in the booklet.

Es gibt ein Farbdiagramm wo alle Teile beschriftet sind, und mit den Schneide-Anleitungen korrespondieren. Und wenn man andere Farbe wählt, ist es viel einfacher, die Teile des Sterns zu identifizieren. Außerdem gibt es eine Strichzeichnung, die man kopieren und bemalen kann. Now to the class: Her instructions were clear and concise.   With every step she clearly explained why we were doing something, which helps me retain the process better.

Jetzt zur Klasse: Ihre Anweisungen waren klar und präzise. Mit jedem Schritt erklärte sie, warum wir etwas machen, was mir hilft, den Prozess besser zu verstehen.

The students in the room ranged from extremely experienced, to brand spanking new quilters. Cindy managed to keep everyone together and most of us had several sections done by the end of the class.  The enthusiasm was so high, that more than half the class went home, finished their piece that night and brought it to “Show and Tell” the next afternoon.

Wir hatten Damen im Raum die extrem erfahren und auch Damen die brand neu waren. Cindy schaffte es, alle im Schritt zu halten und die meisten von uns hatten am Ende des Kurses mehrere Sektionen genäht. Die Begeisterung war so groß, dass mehr als die Hälfte der Klasse nach Hause ging, ihr Stück in dieser Nacht fertigstellte und es am nächsten Nachmittag zu “Show and Tell” brachte!

If I sound enthusiastic, that is because I am.  I have taken many classes by many, admittedly great teachers.  This class definitely stands out, in that I received great instruction but also the tools to retain what I learned and the ability to finish my project even six weeks later without any difficulty.

Wenn ich enthusiastisch klinge, dann deshalb, weil ich es bin. Ich habe viele Kurse von vielen, zugegebenermaßen großartigen Lehrern, belegt. Diese Klasse war besser: der Unterricht war so gut, dass ich das Projekt auch sechs Wochen später ohne Schwierigkeiten beenden konnte.

And here is my piece, construction finished just yesterday.  I am excited to add the sides (there are even on-point setting instructions in the booklet) and quilt the whole thing!

Und hier ist mein Stern; erst gestern fertig geworden. Ich freue mich darauf, die Seiten hinzuzufügen und die ganze Sache zu quilten!.

International Bee Queens (yes, two of them)

My international bee has had two queens this month – Jennifer wanted shamrocks for her Irish inspired quilt, and Paige requested modified I-spy blocks for a girls’ charity project….

Meine internationale Gruppe hatte diesen Monat zwei Königinnen – Jennifer wollte Kleeblätter für ihre irisch inspirierte Steppdecke, und Paige ersuchte modifizierte I-Spy-Blöcke für ein Wohltätigkeitsprojekt für Mädchen ….

Each of them only requested one block, but apparently all other participants in my bee are over-achievers and made several of each! No way I could let that challenge go unmatched!

Jede von ihnen hat nur einen Block angefordert, aber anscheinend sind alle anderen Teilnehmer meiner Biene sehr ehrgeizig und haben mehrere von jedem gemacht! Auf keinen Fall könnte ich diese Herausforderung unbeantwortet lassen!

And so, here they are:  three shamrocks for Jennifer, and two I-spy blocks for Paige.

A special thank-you to Paige:  I have had this Minnie Mouse fabric remnant forever, and not known what to do with it (I am not into themed fabrics at all).  This block was perfect for it, since the quilts will go to teenage girls!

Ich bin Paige ganz besonders dankbar: Ich hatte diesen Minnie Mouse Stoffrest schon sehr lange und wusste nicht, was ich damit anfangen sollte (ich verwende Themenstoffe nie!). Dieser Block war perfekt dafür, da die Steppdecken an Mädchen gehen werden!

A Round Robin Project -virtually!

I am currently participating in a Round Robin Project at my guid; I am also participating in an online bee in an international group…..

Ich nehme heuer an einem Round Robin Project in meiner Guide teil; und ich nehme auch in einem Block Austausch in einer online-internationalen Gruppe teil …..

And I had this CRAZY idea about combining the two: I really enjoy the international aspect of my online bee, and I am loving the Round Robin!

Und ich hatte diese VERRÜCKTE Idee, die beiden zu kombinieren: Ich genieße den internationalen Aspekt meiner online-Gruppe sehr, und ich liebe den Round Robin.

This is how I imagine this working – let’s say we have Aby, Brenda, Carol, Debby and Erika participating)

So stelle ich mir diese Arbeit vor – nehmen wir an, wir haben Aby, Brenda, Carol, Debby und Erika dabei.

1. 1.  Everyone makes a center block.
   2. On the first of the month, Aby sends a photo (and measurements) of her block to Brenda (Brenda sends a photo of hers to Carol, Carol sends a photo go hers to Debby and so on).  This is done by email.
   3. Brenda then has ten days to come up with a border and emails a photo/drawing/sketch of the border (incl. instructions) back to Aby.
   4. Aby has til the end of the month to complete the border.
   5. A photo of their project will be aded to a Facebook page that I will create for this.
   6. On the first of the following month, Aby sends a photo of her block (incl. the border she made according to Brenda’s instructions) to Carol.
   7. Carol then again has ten days to design the next border, and send the directions back to Aby.
   8. Aby has til the end of the month to complete the border.
   9. Repeat until all participants have had a turn….

•  Alle machen einen Block (für das Zentrum der Quilt).
• Am ersten des Monats sendet Aby ein Foto (und Maße) ihres Blocks an Brenda (Brenda schickt ein Foto von ihrem an Carol, Carol schickt ein Foto zu Debby und so weiter). Dies geschieht per E-Mail.
• Brenda hat dann zehn Tage Zeit, um eine Umrandung zu entwerfen und emailt ein Foto / Zeichnung / Skizze der Grenze (inkl. Anweisungen) an Aby.
• Aby hat bis Ende des Monats, um die Grenze zu nähen.
• Ein Foto des Projekts wird auf einer Facebook-Seite hinzugefügt, die ich dafür erstellen werde
• Am ersten des folgenden Monats sendet Aby ein Foto ihres Blocks (einschließlich der Umrandung, die sie nach Brendas Anweisungen gemacht hat) an Carol.
• Carol hat dann wieder zehn Tage Zeit, um die nächste Umrandung zu entwerfen und die Anweisungen an Aby zu senden.
• Aby hat bis ans Ende des Monats, um die Umrandung zu nähen.
• Wir wiederholen das dann alles bis alle Teilnehmer an der Reihe waren ….

I envision having six to eight participants – if more want to do this we’ll just have two groups.  I would like to start this sometime late this spring or early summer – so that maybe we are done by the holidays.

Ich stelle mir vor, sechs bis acht Teilnehmer zu haben – wenn mehr mitmachen wollen, werden wir mehrere Gruppen haben.  Ich würde das gerne irgendwann im Frühjahr oder im Sommer beginnen – damit wir dann ca. Ende des Jahres fertig sind.

If we do the Round Robin this way, there is no mailing involved which would save not only on the time but also on shipping cost.

Wenn wir den Round Robin auf diese Weise machen, ist kein “per Post schicken” involviert, und da sparen wir nicht nur Kosten aber auch Zeit.

Ideally, the group would have quilters from different countries , cultures and quilting styles.  I, for example,  am not a quilter that does appliqué at all – but, someone will send me an appliqué border I will have to tackle it….and will do so happily!

Im Idealfall würde die Gruppe Quilter aus verschiedenen Ländern, Kulturen und Stil haben. Ich bin zum Beispiel kein Quilter, die Applikation macht – aber jemand wird mir einen Applikationsmuster schicken … und werde es gerne anpacken!
